2013 NBA Playoffs: Memphis Grizzlies in Perfect Position to End Series

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Memphis Grizzlies have got the Los Angeles Clippers right where they want them as the two teams get ready to play game 6 on Friday night. Memphis has won the last three games of the NBA playoff series and could finish it off with one more win. I would have to believe that the Grizzlies need to make this happen at home before the series would return to Los Angeles for a possible game 7.

Memphis kept doing what was successful during games 3 and 4 when they won on the road during game 5. There is no doubt in my mind that Los Angeles has major problems with the inside game of Memphis. I would also think that the winner of this series may see an opening to the Western Conference Finals with the Oklahoma City Thunder having no Russell Westbrook. I’m not sure how far the Grizzlies could get into the playoffs, but I think they have the best chance of defeating the San Antonio Spurs for the conference title.

The Grizzlies need to get rid of the Clippers first, and I believe they will do that on Friday night in game 6. There is so much momentum on the side of Memphis right now that the Clippers can’t stop it. You don’t want to play game 7 on the road either. The combination of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol has been too much in recent games for Los Angeles, and that will continue. If Memphis can move past this series, it is going to lead to a very exciting second round series whoever the Grizzlies end up playing.
