According to a report from Yahoo on Sunday morning, Derrick Rose will not return to the Chicago Bulls this season no matter how far they make it into the playoffs. There has been much speculation around the sports world whether or not he would or if he should try to play for the Bulls this season. The former NBA MVP has kept Chicago fans on edge about his return since February — which is when the doctors cleared him to start scrimmaging.

Rose, who had surgery last May to repair a torn ACL suffered in last year’s playoffs. Has said that he wouldn’t play until he feels his knee is ready. This stance is understandable to some degree, but then you have the questions remaining on why the doctors cleared him to start scrimmaging. This reason has fans questioning his heart and determination to win. With Rose in the lineup last season, the Bulls had the best record in the NBA. Eventually, they would get knocked out of the playoffs by the Miami Heat.

Even with Rose in the lineup, the Bulls would have a hard time defeating the defending champion Heat in the next round of the playoffs. They were able to get by the Brooklyn Nets in seven games but the Heat are a different animal. So, perhaps, Rose sitting out isn’t the worst thing. He hasn’t played all season and why come back only to see Lebron James and company as your first opponent. Rose can take some extra time and get his knee back to where it was prior to surgery. The Bulls still have some years where they can possibly make a run at another title, but they cannot do it without Rose.
