2013 NBA Draft Prospect Profile: Philipp Neumann, Center, Brose Bamberg (Germany)

Jerry Lai-USA Today Sports

Name: Philipp Neumann

Age: 21

Height: 6-foot-11

Position: Center

School/Country: Brose Bamberg (Germany)

Latest Stats: 2.9 ppg, 1.6 rpg 0.5 apg

At 6-foot-11, Philipp Neumann is entering the 2013 NBA Draft by way of the Brose Bamberg club in Germany. Neumann has excellent size and he’s very active in the half court. However, Neumann doesn’t have much experience. In his last season with Brose Bamberg, Nuemann averaged just 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Those numbers came in roughly 9.5 minutes per game.

Neumann does have the potential to hear his name called on draft night, but he’s more of a project guy, especially on the offensive end. As Neumann’s numbersx suggest, he’s not a guy that is going to be able to instantly impact an NBA franchise. Could he someday help? Sure. But does that warrant a selection?

Strengths: Neumann has great size, measuring in at 6-foot-11, 245 lbs. Given his size, he can present a big body down low and a force that is tough to keep out of the paint. Neumann is active in half court and could excel in certain pick and roll situations.

Weaknesses: Neumann has played his way onto the radar of some NBA scouts, but he’s relatively unknown. He didn’t play all that much during this past season with Brose Bamberg, so he has a long way to go. Is a project guy at the age of 21 years old worthy of a selection?

Draft Projection: Late Second Round to Undrafted
