Trade talk of LaMarcus Aldridge, which was rather hot less than a month ago, has cooled off somewhat although once the NBA season is over, it could heat right back up again.

Aldridge could be wearing a Cleveland Cavalier uniform next year. Then again, the Portland Trail Blazers might decide to keep Aldridge and see what they could do to build around their talented 6-foot-11 forward and Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard.

The Trail Blazers need to develop a bigger pool of talent. The thought is that trading Aldridge could produce more talent with draft picks and two or three decent players from the other teams. The key to winning in the NBA is getting more depth rather than getting more super stars.

If the Blazers keep Aldridge, they have one of the best players in the league, considering that he is averaging 21.1 points and 9.1 rebounds a game. He was able to suit up for 74 games and play an average of 37 minutes per game.

That’s among the reasons Blazer fans don’t want to see Aldridge leave. But they also have to remember that despite having Aldridge and Lillard both on the team, they were 33-49. Aldridge isn’t going to take the Blazers to the playoffs by himself. He needs some help which is why this offseason will be very important for the Blazers. They need to draft well and make some very important decisions with their roster Trading Aldridge would be worth it, but only if they get gold in return from the other side.
