Latest Stats: 9.9 ppg, 4.6 apg, 3.1 rpg,
In his first two seasons, Elijah Johnson wasn’t used to seeing a lot of minutes. That changed in both his junior and senior years and with four years now under his belt at Kansas, Johnson is hoping to hear his name called within the 2013 NBA Draft. Johnson stands at 6-foot-4, but he spent a lot of his playing time as a combo guard along side sophomore point Naadir Tharpe.
Johnson is not the greatest of offensive threats and although his points per game average dipped slightly this past year, he increased on his per game assist average here in 2013. Johnson is going to need to impress in pre-draft workouts leading up to June’s NBA Draft if he hopes to hear his name called.
Strengths: Johnson became more of a leader during his senior season at Kansas and he has the ability to find his teammates both in transition and in the half court. He can handle the ball particularly well and he has decent size which should help him transition to the point guard position even quicker.
Weaknesses: Johnson is not a true point guard, so he has a lot to pick up on. He needs to improve on his shot selection and his shot efficiency after shooting just 38.2% from the field this past season. While Johnson averaged a career-high in assists during the 2012-13, he also turned the ball over more than three times per game.
Draft Projection: Undrafted
