2013 NBA Draft: New Orleans Pelicans Want Another Great Lottery

The ping pong balls bounced the way of the New Orleans Pelicans last season, and it led to the team drafting Anthony Davis with the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. It is almost time for the NBA Draft Lottery again, and New Orleans must be hoping that those ping pong balls can bounce their way in their direction for a second straight year.

It would be a very interesting team if New Orleans were to get that top pick though. I think that the Pelicans would take Nerlens Noel with the pick. Paired up with Davis on the inside, the team may have one of the most dominant combinations of shot-blockers in the NBA. It may not happen next season, but when you can put two big players like that in the lane and make other teams fear driving to the hoop, your chances at winning go up.

I’m not sure that things will go that way for New Orleans this season, but they will at least one of the top 10 picks.

If they don’t get the first pick though, I could see the Pelicans going after a player like Otto Porter, Jr. if he is still available. He would likely replace Eric Gordon if he is traded in the offseason, or could be put at small forward to give New Orleans another scoring threat.

The fans and organization only have to wait another few days now to see where they will end up picking in late June, but it will be a solid player no matter what.
