Kim Klement-USA Today Sports

Name: Kenny Boynton

Age: 22

Height: 6-foot-2

Position: Shooting Guard

School/Country: Florida

Latest Stats: 12.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.7 apg

Coming out of high school, Kenny Boynton was ranked as the No. 9 overall recruit within the class of 2009. In his first season with the Florida Gators, Boynton did not disappoint, averaging 14.0 points per game. Expectations were soaring for the 6-foot-2 combo guard, but that hype slowly began to diminish. Boynton’s production offensively actually increased during both his sophomore and junior seasons, but this past year it dipped to a career low 12.0 points per game.

At 6-foot-2, Boynton is undersized for the shooting guard position and he was actually fortunate enough to have some solid back court companions running the point during his time in a Gator uniform. Boynton is talented, there’s no denying that fact, but he’s been inefficient at times and he’s never really taken the next step in his playing career or took advantage of the hype and potential that surrounded him early on.

Boynton is not expected to be drafted on that final Thursday in June.

Strengths: Boynton is a scorer and he has proven the ability to knock down shots from the outside, as well as penetrate and get to the rim. Boynton was highly touted coming out of high school, so you know that he has talent.

Weaknesses: Boynton is undersized for the shooting guard position in the NBA and he doesn’t have the tools to play the point. Boynton is coming off his worst season at Florida and shot only 32.1% from distance this past season. Boynton has never been able to step into the spotlight or hit the big shot and he needs to be more efficient in his jump shooting.

Draft Projection: Undrafted
