Kevin Jairaj-USA Today Sports

Name: Rodney McGruder

Age: 21

Height: 6-foot-5

Position: Shooting Guard

School/Country: Kansas State

After only averaging 12.5 minutes per game as a freshman back in 2009-10, Rodney McGruder molded himself into an elite college basketball player. McGruder burst onto the scene as a sophomore the following year and he hasn’t looked back since. At 6-foot-5, McGruder has good size for the shooting guard position and he has proven himself to be a solid scorer, even carrying Kansas State at times.

McGruder can shoot from the outside, but he’s not afraid to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. McGruder is going to have to prove his worth in pre-draft workouts if he has any chance to hear his name called on draft night. At this point, that’s not likely.

Strengths: McGruder can score and he has good size at 6-foot-5 for the shooting guard position. McGruder is not afraid to shoot from the outside, but he also uses his size to his advantage when putting the ball on the floor.

Weaknesses: McGruder doesn’t have the greatest of quickness and despite his ability to knock down the three ball, his outside shooting numbers have actually decreased over the years. McGruder needs to showcase more efficiency and utilize his strength even  when putting the ball on the floor.

Draft Projection: Undrafted
