2013 NBA Draft Lottery: No. 1 Pick Goes to Cleveland Cavaliers

(David Richard/USA Today Sports)

Over the years, it’s been no secret that having the best percentage to win the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft doesn’t necessarily earn the No. 1 pick. Unfortunately for the Orlando Magic, they fell just short of earning the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft Lottery–which will go to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers may have been a longer shot coming into the lottery when compared to other teams like the Magic and Charlotte Bobcats, but they were lucky enough to land the No. 1 pick–which means they will have plenty of thinking to do over the next couple of weeks. As of now, all signs point to Cleveland selecting Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel, but his torn ACL may be a reason for concern as there’s a good chance he won’t even be ready for the start of the regular season.

Plus, Kansas star freshman Ben McLemore is a tempting pick at No. 1–so it will be interesting to see what direction they end up going with.

Either way, the Cavaliers and their fans have to be excited with getting lucky enough to land the No. 1 pick considering they were in the same spot two years ago when they selected Kyrie Irving. With a possible squad consisting of Irving, Dion Waiters, Alonzo Gee, Tristian Thompson, and Anderson Varejao–Cleveland could certainly be a team to keep an eye on during the 2013-14 season with the addition of Noel or McLeMore.

Look out NBA–Cleveland may finally be back.
