Athletes on Twitter divulge some juicy info with regularity. It is a lot easier for a coach or public relations representative to make sure a professional athlete doesn’t say something they shouldn’t in a press conference or a post-game interview. Keeping them from their phones and social media is a completely different animal.

Some teams set regulations for their athletes. Luckily for fans of the Detroit Pistons, many of the team’s top players are on Twitter. Finding gems on Twitter is as easy as following your favorite stars and making sure you read their juicier posts before they get a chance to delete them.

Andre Drummond leads the way of all the Pistons, logging over 7,000 tweets. He has already roped in over 170,000 followers and has only just finished his rookie season in the NBA. Drummond tweets a handful of times every day, making him a serious regular on the social media site. Other players go for quality over quantity, such as fellow rookie of the year second-teamer Kyle Singler. The Oregon native and former Duke Blue Devil is closing in on 50,000 followers.

The Pistons’ newest member, Jose Calderon has the most Twitter followers, closing in on 300,000. The Spaniard tweets in both English and Spanish, giving him a much greater opportunity to reach more people.

Whether you’re looking to keep up with the Pistons’ youngsters or be the first to know what is going on with the team, Twitter can be one of the best ways to get an up close and personal look into your favorite athlete’s lives.
