East Carolina senior forward Maurice Kemp is an intriguing NBA prospect. At 6-foot-8, Kemp can stuff the stat sheet in a variety of ways and he has the capability of playing on the perimeter. Kemp only spent two seasons at East Carolina after transferring in prior to the 2011-12 season. In that short span, Kemp has molded himself into a consistent scorer and legitimate NBA prospect. At this point however, Kemp is going to need someone to buy into him late in the second round for him to have any chance of being drafted, but even so, he’s probably a prospect who should at least get a shot on a summer league roster.

Kemp averaged 18.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game this past season and he has showcased the ability to play both inside the paint and outside on the arc. Kemp can shoot the three ball, but he’s not afraid to put the ball on the deck and get to the free throw line. Kemp could be a name to keep an eye on after the draft because he’s not expected to hear his name called on that final Thursday in June.

Strengths: Kemp can score and rebound particularly well. He’s long and athletic and at 6-foot-8 he has the ability to play on the perimeter. Kemp can shoot from the outside, but he showcased the ability to score in variety of ways at East Carolina.

Weaknesses: Kemp was relatively unknown despite averaging nearly 19 points and eight rebounds per game this past season. Kemp is officially listed as a small forward, but he needs to continue expanding on his outside game — that’s the key to his NBA potential.

Draft Projection: Undrafted
