With that being said, let the Brian Shaw rumors and interest commence. Shaw, who has been a top assistant around the NBA for a number of years now, is rumored to be the top candidate for the Brooklyn Nets — which certainly comes as no real surprise.
You see, the Nets have been patient in their search, while speaking with a number of candidates along the way, the vacancy has remained that — vacant. With Shaw now available following the Pacers’ playoff elimination, it also comes as no surprise that today is the day in which his name is linked more heavily to the Nets’ opening.
The Nets are expected to ask the Pacers for permission to speak with Shaw now, according to reports as he is officially labeled as a “serious target.”
This news comes just one day after the Nets asked the Memphis Grizzlies for permission to speak with Lionel Hollins, who albeit would like to remain with his current team, understands his options may be elsewhere if the two sides cannot reach an agreement moving forward.
Jeff Van Gundy is another name that has also been linked to the vacancy, so Brooklyn has a few top targets that they will likely be pursuing as this week rolls along. Look for Brooklyn to make its move sooner rather later.
