The Philadelphia 76ers are still looking for a new head coach and their options are becoming limited at this point, unless they want to try to lure a current coach away from his team. I have to believe that the team was waiting for Brian Shaw to become available after the Indiana Pacers got knocked out of the playoffs. The Pacers are now out and Shaw is now free to do whatever he wants. Philadelphia must scoop him up right now as their new coach.
It is widely known that he has much experience as an assistant; that could easily translate to a head coaching position. The 76ers need a fresh start after how last season ended for them. The Andrew Bynum debacle along with the departure of Doug Collins has left the door open to start all over again in Philadelphia.
The talent is obviously there with Jrue Holliday and Evan Turner and a high draft pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. I think that Shaw could really lead this team back into the playoffs in short order. It may not be next season, but if the team can get back to the .500 mark next year after finishing 34-48 this year, it will be a massive improvement. I hope the 76ers will stop dragging their feet on making a coaching decision and get in contact with Shaw to get this done. I don’t think that the team has a better choice out there; they can’t let this slip through their fingertips.
