We are under a month away from the start of the 2013 NBA Draft, but it's never to early to dive into some of the top positional battles within this year's class.

The point guard position is an interesting one here in 2013, especially considering the top projected talent at this position (Marcus Smart) opted to return to school next season. With that being said, the shake up atop the point guard projections is more than interesting. It's a position that is on the rise and one that may have been undervalued if you compare things to a month ago.

The point guard position is the most important spot on the floor according to some, so who are the top targets that NBA organizations have eye their eyes upon. Let's take a look:

No. 5- Shane Larkin (Miami, FL)

Draft Projection: Mid-to-Late First Round

Shane Larkin is a first round lock at this point and it's all about where in that first round his name will actually be called. He could potentially break into the teens, but he should fall anywhere in that mid-to-late first round projection. Larkin left Miami (FL) after just two seasons, but it's his athleticism and ability to score and run an offense that has him on numerous NBA radars.

No. 4- Dennis Schroeder (Germany)

Draft Projection: Mid First Round

Dennis Schroeder is roaring up the first round draft projections with only a few weeks until draft night arrives. Schroeder's name has been linked to a number of teams and he has the potential to break into the lottery (top 14) portion of the first round thanks to his lightning quick speed and Rajon Rondo-like game.

No. 3- Michael Carter-Williams (Syracuse)

Draft Projection: Lottery Pick

At 6-foot-6, Michael Carter-Williams is one of the more intriguing point guards in some time. His height suggests a prospect who would excel on the wing, but Carter-Williams' basketball IQ and passing ability makes him a dynamite point guard. Carter-Williams could break into the top ten, but if not don't expect him to slip any further than the middle of the pack in the first round.

No. 2- C.J. McCollum (Lehigh)

Draft Projection: Lottery Pick

C.J. McCollum can be labeled as more of combo guard because of his ability to score and shoot the basketball, but he can run an offense, no doubt about it. McCollum did not averaged less than 19 points per game in any of his four years at Lehigh, so whoever picks this budding prospect is receiving instant contribution. McCollum should be off the board within the top ten.

No. 1- Trey Burke (Michigan)

Draft Projection: Top Ten

Trey Burke could be a top five selection in this year's draft and worst case scenario there's no chance he slips outside the top ten. Burke is a play maker, he can score and he can dictate an offense with his up-tempo style of play. Burke converted on a virtual sweep of all of college basketball's National Player of the Year awards this past season.
