One of the hot rumors of the day on Wednesday was the indecision surrounding Boston Celtics‘ head coach Doc Rivers.

Reports surfaced on Wednesday morning that Rivers believes that “it may be time for a change,” and from there, the speculation has only continued to grow. Would Rivers really leave Boston? What does that mean for the rest of the Celtics’ roster? Is this an early indication that Boston is leaning towards rebuilding this off-season?

Well, speculation is only that and at this point, nobody really knows what Rivers or the Celtics have planned, but answers are sure to come soon enough.

One of the teams that was instantly connected to Rivers however, was the Los Angeles Clippers — who ironically enough have been linked to him in the past. However, according to a report from the LA Times, the idea isn’t as easy as originally thought.

Rivers still has three years and $21 million on his contract, so he would first need permission from Boston and Danny Ainge to speak with the team. From there, Donald Sterling would also have to fork up an expensive contract to lure Rivers to the west coast. Unless Rivers is going to take a pay cut, of course.

Either way, the bottom line is this — Rivers is still the head coach of the Celtics. Los Angeles needs to proceed as if he isn’t available because frankly, he isn’t.

As Baxter Holmes of theBoston Globe indicates above, the Celtics aren’t exactly the easiest team to work with either.

More will surely come soon enough.
