2013 Philadelphia 76ers Top 5 Single Game Performances: Jrue Holiday
Jrue Holiday's Top Five Games of 2013
The lone bright spot for what was a frustrating season for the 2013 Philadelphia 76ers was the remarkable play of Jrue Holiday. Holiday transformed himself from a young talented prospect to an All-Star before our very own eyes. He elevated his game to the next level and can now be considered one of the best in that second tier of point guards: just behind guys like Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook and Rajon Rondo.
Holiday had nothing around him and was still able to average 17.7 points and 8.0 assists this year. He provided the only sort of scoring punch this team had all year and tried all on his own to make up for the absence of Andre Iguodala and Louis Williams. With that came some rough patches though, as he turned the ball over a league high 3.7 times per game. But when you start to get some talent around him, he won’t have to do as much and that number will go down.
With the 2013 NBA Draft and free agency approaching very quickly, it will be interesting to see what new general manager Sam Hinkie decides to do to build this team around Holiday. The biggest question will be if they try to retain the services of Andrew Bynum. If not, where does the talent come from to help their All-Star point guard out?
Jrue has a complete highlight reel of many amazing performances during the 2013 season. But here are five games that made the fans sit back in awe.
5. January 2nd vs Phoenix Suns
Holiday recorded just his second career triple double with a 16 point, 10 rebound 10 assist effort, albeit in a loss, against the Phoenix Suns.
4. November 25th vs Phoenix Suns
This was Jrue’s first true breakout game. He dropped what would be a career high for now of 33 points while shooting 13-21 from the field and dropping 13 assists. This was when his All-Star caliber game started to take form.
2. January 26th vs New York Knicks
I was in attendance for this game and witnessed Holiday go Allen Iverson all over the New York Knicks. He scored a career high 35 points and made a career high 16 field goals in another win.
1. January 18th vs Toronto Raptors
If you have ever heard the phrase “will your team to victory,” Holiday did just that on this night. After hitting the game tying basket with less than one second left to send it into overtime, Holiday scored all 12 points in the extra period and poured in 33 points and 14 assists overall in this dramatic victory over the Toronto Raptors.
Celtics Should Package 1st-Round Pick With Wallace
If the Celtics manage to find a trade partner to take Wallace, they'd free up an additional $10 million in cap space and become real players on the free agent market. Read More
