The Boston Celtics have a lot of decisions to make this summer. One of those decisions is what to do with Paul Pierce, the Celtics can either trade or amnesty Pierce. Pierce, who will be 36 when the season starts had an up and down year. In the playoffs he struggled heavily, and couldn't get his shot going. He has expressed his desire to remain with the Celtics, and finish his career with the team.

The Celtics could grant this wish for Pierce, but its time for them to part ways with their captain. Its unknown what moves the Celtics will make in the upcoming free agency period, but Ainge will most likely be ridding the team of players and that starts with Pierce.

Moving Pierce will be good for both sides, Danny Ainge will ensure that Pierce goes to a contender and will be able to players and draft picks in return. Paul deserves to go out on a high note, and if Pierce is made available he will no doubt have a lot of teams calling for him. As for the Celtics, the future is bleak, Doc Rivers doesn't know if he wants to come back, and there still is no word on a decision from Kevin Garnett. If Rivers were to leave, it would make the decision to move Pierce a lot easier.

Pierce is a legend in Boston, and will have his jersey hanging from the rafters one day. He has always been the model player, and he deserves to finish his career competing for the title.

Unfortunately, that means leaving Boston. Here are five teams that he could end up on.

The Los Angeles Lakers could come calling. With the injury to Kobe Bryant, the Lakers could use another scorer in the starting lineup. Pierce is from the Los Angeles area, and would be fitting to end his career in his hometown. Although I hope it would be with the Clippers.

The Atlanta Hawks wanted Pierce during the season, and were willing to trade for him. If Pierce is made available the Hawks would be knocking on his door. Pairing Pierce with Josh Smith would give the Hawks a veteran leader, but also a nice scoring come.

The Brooklyn Nets also wanted Pierce, but couldn't make a deal with the Celtics to get him. The Nets have a good team with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson, but adding Pierce could be the move to put them over the top.

The San Antonio Spurs are a team always looking to add veterans. With Manu Ginobili struggling with his play in the NBA Finals the Spurs could trade for Pierce in the off season. The Spurs have young players to give back to the Celtics, and adding Pierce with Tony Parker and Tim Duncan would make the Spurs primed for another elite run.
