LeBron James' New Sneaker Refers to Him as a Two-Time Champion

LeBron James is the best basketball player in the world and it’s not debatable. He’s done some amazing things on the court, including being an All-Star, he’s on the first team All-NBA every year and he’s a four-time MVP of the league. What he’s not is a two-time NBA champion. However, Nike doesn’t seem to be aware of this fact.

Deadspin.com has obtained a picture of James’ new sneaker, the LeBron X, and inside the shoe on the bottom of the heel it reads “2-time champion.”

Whoops, talk about jumping the gun. The Miami Heat and LeBron James might very well win their second NBA title in the next few days, but it doesn’t look good right now being down 3-2 in the NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs. It would very embarrassing for Nike if James and the Heat don’t win the next two games that would indeed make James a two-time champion. Or perhaps they can just delay the sneaker’s release until James actually does win his second NBA title.

Either way, there has been a major mistake made by Nike. How can they design something that they don’t know as a certainty? It’s obvious they believed the Heat would win the NBA championship, but there is no way they could have known it with 100% certainty when they began making the sneaker. What happens now if the Spurs win the NBA title?

I’m guessing if the Spurs win it all there could be some very expensive shoes on the feet of some very poor third-world country people. That’s something we can all root for.
