2013 NBA Free Agency: Could Nate Robinson be a Part of Dallas Mavericks’ Plan?

Mark Cuban says he has a plan for his Dallas Mavericks this offseason to bring them back to the NBA Finals. What could be in store for the summer?

Beloved star forward Dirk Nowitzki has already stated he is going to take a pay cut in order to pursue two top-tier names in free agency. But, aside from the pursuit of Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, what else does Cuban have in mind?

One guy who is sure to receive a bigger contract than he was paid last year is Chicago Bulls point guard Nate Robinson. The Bulls already have a healthy Derrick Rose heading into next season and a backup signed through 2014 in Kirk Hinrich. With the way Robinson played last year, he is likely to be headed out.

With such a spotty point guard bunch featuring Darren Collison and Mike James, Robinson could come in right away and add not only his excitement and energy, but scoring.

The Mavericks four point guards combined to average 24 points per game last season. Robinson, listed as the Bulls’ third point guard, averaged over 13 points per game – higher than any of Dallas’ point guards average in 2012.

With Robinson’s ability to knock down cold-blooded three point shots and get into the lane with his speed, the Mavericks would be foolish not to give him a look.

Collison as well as Rodrigue Beaubois both have qualifying offers of over $3 million going into the summer, and I wonder if the Mavericks are willing to bring them both back. Robinson could come in around that price, given last season he made just under $1 million on a minimum deal.

If Cuban is as smart as I think he is, Robinson is on his radar. In order to get back to championship status, he is going to have to bring in a variety of talent to fill out his roster alongside Nowitzki.

Dirk Nails Game-Winner, Gets Love From Kobe

Kobe Bryant wasn't able to lace up for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night, but he still managed to make the highlight reels on multiple occasions. After Dirk Nowitzki nailed what turned out to be the game-winning jumper, he stumbled backward into Bryant and received a pat of approval. This encounter is the definition of the saying 'game recognizes game' as the two players are both legends and future Hall of Famers.

Josh Smith Fakes Dirk Nowitzki Out of His Shoes

Josh Smith has returned to the Houston Rockets via trade, and he made the most of his first game back. He scored 16 points off the bench, including this drive on Dirk Nowitzki that made Smith look like Hakeem Olajuwon. Could Ty Lawson and Josh Smith be the spark duo off the bench that rejuvenates this Rockets team?

Watch Kings' Rondo Attempt To Trip Mavs' Williams

Last night's game between the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks was one of the most entertaining of the season. It was a back-and-forth contest that ended on a Deron Williams three-pointer as time expired in double-overtime. Unfortunately, Williams almost didn't get to take that shot as Rajon Rondo attempted to trip him from the bench earlier in the game which could have caused serious injury. Rondo should be suspended for his actions.
