J.J. Redick Would be the Perfect Bench Piece for the Indiana Pacers

Last season, the Orlando Magic shipped J.J. Redick to the Milwaukee Bucks where he spent from mid-February to the end of their season. Now that the season has ended and Redick is a free agent, he needs to decide if he wants to stay in Milwaukee, or take his talents elsewhere.

Milwaukee was a good team this past season, but now that Monta Ellis is out and Brandon Jennings might leave as well, it would be best for Redick to leave and sign with a title contending team. Well, the Indiana Pacers are certainly title contenders and could use a shooter like Redick.

The Pacers starting lineup was great this season as they took the Miami Heat to Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals. However, their bench wasn’t good enough which is arguably the reason why they couldn’t finish the Heat off. If the Pacers keep their starting lineup together this season and don’t move someone to the bench, they will need a good shooter to come off the bench. Redick averaged 14.1 points per game this season on 44% shooting, so he would be the perfect piece for the Indiana bench.

Depending on what the Pacers do with Danny Granger, they should have plenty of money to beef up their bench after the re-signing of  David West. Spending some of that on Redick would be a very smart decision.

If the Pacers sign Redick and pick up some promising talent in the upcoming draft, Indiana could certainly knock off the Heat this season and make their first appearance in the Finals since 2000.
