2013 NBA Draft: Orlando Magic Won’t Pass on Nerlens Noel If Available At No. 2

Mark Zerof-USA Today Sports

The 2013 NBA Draft is just a few days away and the obvious uncertainty surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers and the No. 1 overall pick remains at the forefront.

The Cavaliers have options, but not many people are sure just what they will do with the top overall pick. There’s always the possibility that Cleveland moves out of the top spot via trade, but even if they don’t, they still aren’t even sure who they will select.

For a while now, there have been a few options for Cleveland and albeit that remains the case, many speculate that Nerlens Noel should be the pick — despite his ongoing rehabilitation from a torn ACL. However, there’s another big man that is soaring up the draft boards and the Cavaliers have Alex Len squarely on their radar. Then again, you also can’t rule out the lower possibilities in which Cleveland may select either Otto Porter Jr. or Ben McLemore with the top pick.

It’s really a who knows situation still, but at least we will find out soon enough.

Sitting behind the Cavaliers at No. 2 however, are the Orlando Magic, the team that lost the right to the top overall spot via the NBA Draft Lottery just last month. According to ESPN‘s Chad Ford, the Magic are prepared to select Noel if the Cavaliers don’t take him with the top overall pick.

So long story short, Noel shouldn’t slip past number two on draft night, at least that appears obvious.
