Indiana Pacers Waste No Time in Finalizing Three-Year Deal With David West

Despite falling one game short of reaching the 2013 NBA Finals, the Indiana Pacers had plenty to be proud of last year as they emerged as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and with the amount of talent on their roster–there’s no reason why that shouldn’t be the case once again during the 2013-14 season. There were plenty of questions surrounding a few players and whether or not they would return next year, but luckily for the Pacers–they can count on David West being back in the lineup.

West and the Pacers are reportedly finalizing a three-year deal worth approximately $36 million for the power forward–which is a big move this early in the offseason. There were plenty of teams expressing interest in bringing West on board after he had another strong year in Indiana as he averaged 17.1 points per game to go along with 7.7 rebounds.

If there was anything to take away from this year’s postseason, it would be just how much of an impact West made when he was in the lineup and locking him up now is huge for an Indiana team that could be even stronger next year. The Pacers realize how close they were to winning the Eastern Conference over the Miami Heat and the organization knew how important it was to make sure West came back if they were going to have any shot at making another strong run at the NBA Finals next season.

It’s still early on in the offseason, but the Pacers are already giving their fans plenty of reason to be excited for what’s in store once October rolls around.
