2013 NBA Free Agency: Sacramento Kings Foolishly Offer Andre Iguodala $56 Million, Become Frontrunner

The race for free agent swingman Andre Iguodala just became a lot clearer as the Sacramento Kings have taken the lead. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Kings have made a substantial offer that has intrigued Iguodala enough to make them his favorite at this point.

Sadly, the former Denver Nuggets shooting guard could establish himself as the number one option, offensively — oh, and defensively — in Sacramento. While Iggy is a very good defender, he’s never been one to take over a game offensively.

The Kings won’t have a guy who has the guts — and the talent — to take that last shot to win the game. He cannot carry the load offensively by himself, but apparently that’s what it looks like he may have to do.

It’s no wonder DeMarcus Cousins wants out. The Kings are just plain terrible at basketball. I apologize Sacramento fans, but come on, you guys really stink — at least for the moment.

Alright, Iguodala would improve the team immensely as a whole. He can definitely be one of those guys that holds a team together, especially defensively — kind of like what Luol Deng and Kawhi Leonard do for their respective squads. But, again, offensively he is no big time player.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Iguodala and I always have. He can be a fantastic addition to a team who already has their elite guy on board — let’s compare him to Batman’s Robin. The money that the Kings have laid out for this guy speaks more to a star player, which I firmly believe Iguodala has never been. He’s Robin, not Batman.
