Should the Boston Celtics Trade Rajon Rondo?

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics have endured a brutal offseason thus far. It started with a blockbuster trade when Boston sent Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets for a few picks and also the horrendous contract of Gerald Wallace.

Fans have been spilt in their reactions so far, as some are excited to be rebuilding and others wonder why the face of the franchise was given up so abruptly. It was a sure sign the Celtics are committed to completely renovating their roster and starting from what feels like scratch.

The Celtics then took their rebuilding project to another level when they hired Brad Stevens out of Butler University. This, to some, came as an even bigger shock than shipping Pierce and Garnett to Brooklyn.

One of the biggest questions now, is whether Boston should attempt to trade Rajon Rondo. There have been rumors that Rondo said he looks forward to seeing what Stevens can do and that he could wind up staying put. But, many believe he should still be dealt.

At this point, I believe Rondo will eventually want out. All he’s ever known is playing with stars. Now that Garnett and Pierce are gone, he may wind up getting fed up with a rebuilding project and want back on a winning team.

One of the teams interested in Rondo has been the Dallas Mavericks. However, any prospective deals would have to include more contracts from Boston and the Mavericks have made it pretty clear they do not want to take them in return.

Boston should look into trading Rondo before he becomes a major thorn in the side of the organization. I don’t see him lasting very long in the midst of a rebuilding franchise and with the Celtics having multiple picks for the next few years, they might as well see if they can move him.

Kyrie Irving is obviously very talented, and but this spin move to get open for a jump shot taught a Boston Celtics player not to be overly aggressive when closing out.

Watch Marcus Smart's Epic Flop

Carmelo Anthony had a mismatch on Marcus Smart in the post, but Smart's flop was still a maneuver that went comically too far in an attempt to draw an offensive foul.
