Big Headache to Big Apple: New York Knicks, Metta World Peace Have Mutual Interest if Amnesty Occurs
In recent rumors, the Los Angeles Lakers have been said to be mulling the amnesty clause in regards to forward Metta World Peace. Los Angeles is wasting valuable money on the troublesome forward and have been strongly considering cutting him loose.
World Peace supposedly would be just fine with the release and has a preferred destination already in mind: The New York Knicks, according to ESPN. What’s even more interesting is that there is said to be mutual interest between the two sides, according to Marc Spears from Yahoo! Sports:
Knicks would “love” to add @MettaWorldPeace using veteran’s minimum if he is amnestied by the Lakers, as expected, a source told Y! Sports.

I can’t figure out what the Knicks’ problem(s) is/are these days. They are a glutton for large, horrendous contracts first and foremost. Already having the likes of Amare Stoudemire on the books for $45 million over the course of the next two seasons, they traded for Andrea Bargnani who carries another $22 million in the same time frame.
Secondly, there have been whispers of the club shopping Tyson Chandler. Why on earth trade the only sure thing — aside from Carmelo Anthony — you have on the roster? Chandler is a defensive monster in the paint and also a highly efficient scorer. It doesn’t make sense.
The Knicks also took a blow when they lost out on free agent forward Chris Copeland to the Indiana Pacers — a sound rotation guy with a lot of upside, despite his age.
Now, they want to potentially bring in one of the league’s biggest headaches? World Peace fits right in, I guess. He will make poor decisions offensively, taking way too many shots. Not to mention, he will likely create a couple of big story lines throughout the season with his bonehead physical altercations.
The Knicks don’t need any more nonsense. What they need is a player committed to winning and playing the game the right way and that is absolutely not World Peace. Stay far away New York. It’s for your own good.
