From the Man Himself: Derrick Rose Will Play Season Opener

After a nightmare of a season in 2012, Derrick Rose is ready to make his return. The former MVP sat out all year long recovering from a torn ACL and it looks like he has officially completed his rehab.

While in Madrid, Rose told HoopsHype that he is indeed 100 percent and plans to play in the first game of the season:

Has there been any better news over the course of the last 365 days than this, if you’re a Chicago Bulls fan? I think not.

Without Rose in 2012, the Bulls lacked an obvious offensive creator outside of maybe Nate Robinson on occasion. The ability of Rose to penetrate and get to the basket is unmatched on that team, and his vision to make the kick out passes necessary is highly undervalued.

Rose has said he’s improved his jump shot as well as his vertical leap over the past year or so. If this proves to be true, we’re going to see the best version of the young point guard we’ve ever witnessed.

Chicago will absolutely have a chance to dethrone the Miami Heat if Rose is in the lineup. No matter who they’re playing, on any given night, Rose makes them one of the league’s top teams. Just reference their NBA-leading record in the last two healthy seasons Rose has played.

It is clear Rose is excited to return and more importantly he is ready. Come this fall, I hope you are all ready to see by far the best Derrick Rose to date.
