No Surprise As Miami Heat, LeBron James Take Over 2013 ESPYs
A variety of famous faces gathered at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles to present, applaud and accept a multitude of awards at the 2013 ESPYs.
Taking home three individual awards for Best Championship Performance, Best NBA Player and Best Male Athlete, not to mention the fact that his Miami Heat also won Best Team for the second consecutive year, There’s no doubt that the real winner at last night’s event was LeBron James.
It’s no surprise that James came away with so many awards considering all the adversity he has had to overcome this past season with the Heat. From the role of villain he has so graciously accepted, to finally shutting up all his critics and winning back-to-back championships, he’s made it.
This night was not all about LeBron and his Heat though, as James came out to present Robin Roberts with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, he had a few kind words to say about this brave woman who overcame adversity in a different way by beating both breast cancer and a rare blood disease.
LeBron also showed his comedic side while accepting his Best Athlete Award by first acknowledging all of his competitors.
“To be in a category with All-Day-AP (Adrian Peterson), the Triple Crown winner (Miguel Cabrera), and the human fish (Michael Phelps); it’s an honor.” He then added, “this is for all four of us, I’m just going to keep it at my house.”
The always respectable and charismatic LeBron once again stole the show with his class and simple, goodhearted nature.
