The upcoming NBA season looks to be a promising one for the new-look Houston Rockets. After adding James Harden last season, they weren’t done yet. The team was able to lure Dwight Howard from the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason.

As you might remember from the NBA playoffs this past season, Jeremy Lin was battling injuries throughout the six playoff games that the Rockets played in before getting eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Who stepped in while Lin was injured? The answer would be Patrick Beverley.

Beverley only averaged 17 minutes a game throughout the regular season, but he played well when Lin went down. His best game in the postseason was in Game 2 against the Thunder when he had 16 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and had six assists.

Lin averaged 13 points and six assists in the regular season, which is pretty good, but he is certainly capable of more. As we saw in those two weeks a few years ago, he is capable of dishing out what some would call “Linsanity.” Lin looked unstoppable in those couple of weeks and was close to making the All-Star team.

Will we ever see that side of him again?

At the end of the season, I think we will look back at these two players and say Lin had the better year. He has a lot of talent, and the Rockets are going to need every bit of it.
