Philadelphia 76ers: Charles Barkley Sends Strong Message to Sam Hinkie Regarding Coaching Vacancy

It’s been about three months since the Philadelphia 76ers heard of the resigning by their former head coach, Doug Collins. After countless interviews and much deliberation they have finally come to a conclusion: They have no idea who they are looking for.

In a recent interview with FOX Sports, former 76ers big man Charles Barkley decided to shed some light on his opinion regarding what’s going on with the organization:

“I think that’s one of the silliest things that I’veseen in sports in a long time,” said Barkley. “I’m in Philly during the summer as you know, and I’m watching and reading every day — to not have a coach under contract by now, I think that’s a joke.”

Barkley is right. It is in fact a joke. So much has gone on with the organization and the roster, that to not have a coach, is just plain laughable.

“I don’t know what they’re waiting on. You’re playing summer-league games, people need to know who’s in charge,” Barkley reiterated.

At this point, general manager Sam Hinkie needs to just hire somebody. Take the most impressive candidate you have interviewed so far and just hire him. Even if he’s not the coach for the future, your team needs a leader for the moment.

If anything, bring in a guy who can at least help develop the younger talent on the squad. The team isn’t going to win championships any time soon, so what in the world is going on? Why is Hinkie waiting so long?

As I have heard countless times regarding this situation, if the right guy isn’t out there now, what makes Hinkie think he’ll be there in a few weeks?
