Rookies Could Play Huge Roles For the Portland Trail Blazers

Portland Trail Blazers

Damian Lillard was amazing for the Portland Trail Blazers in his first year with the team. Who knows if a rookie this season could have the kind of impact that Lillard had, but there are two rookies that could play huge roles for Portland in the upcoming season.

C.J. McCollum and Allen Crabbe were great picks.

Both know how to put the basketball into the hoop at will. Just ask their stats that. McCollum averaged 19 or more points per game in every year that he played in college and Crabbe is coming off of a season where he put up 18.4 points per game.

Who knows if that will happen in the pros, but both could be reliable scorers regardless. They both knock down the long ball at a high rate and they both were the leaders of their college teams.

It will be interesting to see how both players are used, especially McCollum since Lillard seems to be the field general of the future for the Trail Blazers. Still, a team cannot have too much talent and if McCollum is anywhere near as good as he was in college in the NBA, Portland will gladly keep him on the team for a long time.

It is usually hit or miss in the draft, but it seems like Portland did some work and got some great players in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Who knows how much playing time Crabbe or McCollum will receive in the upcoming season, but they are both talented enough to to play huge roles.
