There are several matchups on Oklahoma City Thunder’s 2013-14 NBA schedule that fans should be excited about. For instance, the Thunder playing the New York Knicks on Christmas Day will be fun, while any contest against the Miami Heat will prove to be interesting. With that being said, what is the top matchup fans should be counting down the days to see?
There is no doubt in my mind the Houston Rockets taking on the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Dec. 29 will be the top regular season matchup. With Dwight Howard putting his mark on the rivalry and James Harden returning to the city that made him famous, there is no question the atmosphere will be electric. Not to mention, Kevin Durant and Co. will be looking to continue the dominance over the Rockets that last ended with a victory in the first round of the playoffs.
The storylines will be all over the place as there will be plenty to talk about in the days leading up to the contest. Not to mention, the first game of the season between the two teams could be one that kicks off a next level of rivalry. There is no denying both teams have what it takes to become the next power houses in the Western Conference. The Dec. 29 matchup could be the first of many epic games that could end with a showdown in the Western Conference Finals.
Hopefully, Oklahoma City and Houston will be able to stay healthy for the rivalry to be at full force during the first meeting.
