The Chicago Bulls surprised everyone last season when they played all year long without superstar point guard Derrick Rose and made it all the way to the second round of the NBA Playoffs. Part of the reason they were able to make it so far was because of the play of third point guard Nate Robinson, who is no longer with the team.
In 2013, though, their back court will be back to full strength as Rose will return for the start of the season and regular backup Kirk Hinrich has gotten healthy as well. With the two of them back and at full strength, the Bulls will be much better than last year — which the Miami Heat better take note of.
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Hinrich expressed his excitement about the upcoming season.
“I’m very excited,” Hinrich said. “We have most of our guys back. We had some great additions. The anticipation of Derrick coming back healthy and it sounds like he’s motivated. We think we have a very good chance.”
The Tribune also said that the two point guards spent part of this offseason training together but other than that, Rose has been doing his own thing.
“I saw him a few times, but not for a while,” Hinrich said. “He’s traveling around and getting ready himself. You can just tell he feels excited to have the opportunity to get back out there and just play basketball. That’s what he loves to do and we’re excited to have him back.”
