With the Indiana Pacers preseason schedule recently coming out, we get to see who the Eastern Conference runner-ups from last season get to play against to kick off the season. They first start off with a great matchup where they will host Derrick Rose and the division-rival Chicago Bulls, and now we will look at their second and third matchups against the Houston Rockets. The twist about these games is they will both be played overseas.
The first game between the Pacers and Rockets will be Thursday, October 10 at 7:30 AM, in Manila, Philippines, with Indiana as the home team. The second game will be Sunday, October 10 at 1:30 AM in Taipei, Taiwan, with Houston as the home team.
Both these teams had a very exciting offseason, meaning the two games between the two should be very exciting. With the addition of Dwight Howard to the young Rockets squad, these teams may be more evenly matched than ever before. Of course the preseason games pretty much mean nothing, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be fun to watch.
It is becoming more and more common for preseason games to be played overseas, but this time it is a little different because the team’s will play against each other twice in different places. It will be different, but it should be fun for the team’s to be traveling to Asia and play basketball at the same time!
One interesting thing to look for is GM Daryl Morey said he will be experimenting this preseason by playing Dwight Howard at power forward, and Omer Asik at center. So make sure to look out for the great matchups that will come with that.
I know these games will be played early in the morning here in the US, but it will sure be worth it to tune in as these games look to be pretty exciting!
