Minnesota Timberwolves Rumors: Rick Adelman’s Future Still Uncertain
Kevin Love will finally be back in the lineup for the Minnesota Timberwolves to start the 2013-2014 NBA season after missing most of last year with a hand injury. He will be joined by the exciting and developing Ricky Rubio, the forceful Nikola Pekovic, and a cast of solid supporting players like Kevin Martin, Chase Budinger and Corey Brewer.
Despite all of the pieces that are in place for the Wolves to have a successful run in the upcoming season, their outlook for this season is still shrouded in uncertainty. That’s because their head coach, Rick Adelman, still hasn’t announced whether or not he will retire before this season.
Not only is Adelman one of the best coaches in terms of Xs and Os and schemes, but this is also a team with a lot of offensive firepower, something right up the wheelhouse of Adelman. This is also a team that is fully behind their coach, from Love to Rubio to the rest of their roster.
However, as HoopsWorld reported, there is still no word on what Adelman plans to do. Sources close to Adelman insist that he’s not going to retire, but he’s also 67 years old with a long time spent coaching in this league. More than that, Adelman is still concerned with the health of his wife, an issue that forced him to miss several games last season.
There’s no doubt that this Minnesota team is going to have a ton of talent regardless, but having Adelman definitely maximizes their potential. We don’t know what’s going to happen at this point and obviously you have to hope Adelman does what’s best for him and his family. For the Wolves’ sake, though, they have to hope their coach decides to return.
