With the Los Angeles Lakers‘ season seemingly going down the tubes much like last season, the health of Kobe Bryant is a huge issue. Although he is shattering his recovery timetable, Bryant himself still doesn’t know if he will be back on opening night.
Recently being asked what to expect this season of Bryant, an anonymous NBA scout says that he expects him to back fully healthy at some point.
“I would not be surprised for him to be back at an All-Star level. I don’t know if it’s going to be next season, it could be, but I could definitely see him being back as an All-Star because that’s just in his DNA.”
He goes on to compare Kobe to Michael Jordan in that he will use his injury as motivation to succeed, suggesting that it’s the adversity of facing what can be called one of the greatest challenges of this career that will get the Black Mamba back not only on the court, but playing at the level that Lakers fans are accustomed to from the team’ leader.
If Bryant can come back healthy by next summer, the down-and-out Lakers will be able to build a contending team around him instead of having to watch another season go down the gutter. With Bryant back at an All-Star level, the Lakers have nothing to be worried about.
