After disappointing bench play from the Indiana Pacers in the playoffs last season, they were forced to add some new names if they wanted to really make an NBA Finals run. Well, they did just that, adding three new faces to the squad. Let’s take a look at the three players added this summer.
C.J. Watson is a veteran point guard who has put up great numbers off the bench for a few other teams, and has playoff experience. He will be a huge upgrade over last season’s backup PG D.J. Augustin.
Chris Copeland has had a difficult journey to where he is now with the Pacers. He had a great season with the New York Knicks last year, which is what made him so attractive to Indiana. He will surely be one of the better bench players, especially offensively, in the league this season.
Indiana picked up Luis Scola in a trade with the Phoenix Suns, and it may have been one of the most underrated trades of the offseason. Scola is getting up there in age, but can still put up some great numbers. Scola is very reliable and is definitely a huge addition to the bench, and to the other big men on the team.
This Indiana bench is much improved from last season and as long as it stays healthy, the Pacers could easily be one of the deepest and scariest teams in the league.
