Love or hate Lebron James, you have to respect the guy. He’s now clearly the best basketball player in the world after fighting hard to win back-to-back NBA championships. But his road to NBA glory certainly wasn’t an easy one. James had to overcome a lot of odds to make it out of the inner-city on his way to stardom. Now, he’s decided to help tell that story via a new television show where he will act as an executive producer.

James is currently helping develop the new show for Starz, which is entitled ‘Survivor’s Remorse.’ The show is fictional, but it will tell a real life-like story of two players from the streets who get famous. One player makes it to the NBA and one does not.

“When you make it out, everyone expects for – they automatically think that they made it out and it’s very tough for a young, African American 18-year old kid to now hold the responsibility of a whole city, of a whole community. I can relate to that as well,” said James on the subject matter of the show.

The title of the show relates to the feelings players like Lebron have experienced after ‘making it out’ and getting famous.

I like this career step for James. He’s to the point now where he needs to start expanding his brand, and telling a story similar to his via television is a great way to do it. His level of success is almost unthinkable when you consider the circumstances of his childhood. People always say that real-life stories make for the best television and in this case, I fully agree.

The show is yet to start shooting and a release date hasn’t been established. But you can bet that once it debuts, that it will grab the attention of basketball fans from across the globe.
