Los Angeles Clippers Rumors: Lamar Odom Checked Into Rehab Facility
I could talk about how Lamar Odom would help the frontcourt rotation of the Los Angeles Clippers or about how they should be able to get him at a good price. I could talk about what’s changed with Odom on the floor since the days when he was a perennial NBA Sixth Man of the Year candidate. I could talk about many things about Lamar Odom.
However, the only thing that’s important and worth mentioning right now is that he’s finally getting help.
According to sources of People magazine, Odom checked himself into a rehabilitation center for drugs and alcohol on Wednesday. The source cited by the magazine also was quoted as saying that Odom “realized he needed help.”
Reports first began circulating about Odom’s problems with drugs a little less than two weeks ago when TMZ reported that Odom’s marriage to Khloe Kardashian was on the rocks and that the root of the problem was that Odom had “slipped deep back into hardcore recreational drugs.”
Soon after that, reports surfaced that Odom had been missing for three days and that the Kardashian family feared that he was off binging on crack-cocaine, one of the drugs he was reportedly abusing. Soon after Odom was located and said to reportedly be “fine,” though, he was arrested for driving under the influence.
The 32-year-old Odom violated the league’s drug policy twice early in his career, but hadn’t had any run-ins that were drug related until now.
By all accounts, Odom is one of the most well respected and well liked players in the league that his teammates love and rave about. Sometimes personal demons can bring down those types of guys. For his sake, let’s hope this visit to rehab is what he needs to get things going in the right direction once again.
