The New Orleans Pelicans recently underwent a name change and the reaction to the new name is mixed to be sure. Honestly, kind of love it myself. The Hornets never really made sense and Pelicans are actually quite fierce creatures. They also have the added benefit that center Anthony Davis kind of looks like an overgrown Pelican with a tendency to block shots with tremendous force.
Also, giggled a bit when I read the comment below from Jrue Holiday, the Pelicans new point guard. Will be interesting to see if there is any negative flash back from New Orleans fans, but will definitely keep an eye on that.

Holiday I’m sure is glad to have another starting opportunity and the young man has never had a big man of Davis’ quality, so expect Holiday to put up career high numbers next season. Especially considering they will need him to be the primary ball handler of this offense.
They have an interesting core of guys next season, and Davis’ play at USA Basketball minicamp was quite impressive as well. Expect him to have an All Star caliber season and for the Pelicans to get hopefully a couple steps closer to making the playoffs.
