5 Players That Could Steal The Spotlight From LeBron James

Robert Meyer- USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James is living the high life these days. He just got married in a super hush-hush reception. He's in commercials, and just signed a production deal with Starz. Oh, and back-to-back NBA champion isn't too shabby of a title either.

Whatever title he chooses to wear, James really is living the dream. But that dream could quickly turn nightmarish for LeBron and the Miami Heat as they prepare to go for the three-peat with a whole host of teams looking to unseat them.

Either the Heat are comfortable with the roster they have, or they're all-in with LeBron leading them to another final. Regardless, it will be a tough task for the Heat this season. I also think with the reshuffling that's taking place in the Eastern Conference, there will plenty of teams and players fighting to knock LeBron off his perch and deny the Heat their third title.

This season should be one of the most anticipated in recent memory, as many of the league's stars will make their returns with a clean slate and another crack at the title. You'll notice three of the five on this list are returning from a significant injury. Here I, detailed five stars that could potentially steal the spotlight from LeBron and the Heat.

5. Paul George

Paul George had a breakout year leading the Indiana Pacers to the playoffs against the Miami Heat. Though they ultimately lost to the Miami, the Pacers have one of the best starting fives in the league. They should be right back where they were last year come playoff time. George could also have an MVP year in the process.

4. Chris Paul

Chris Paul led the Los Angeles Clippers to their best record in franchise history. They also made the playoffs. Unfortunately, they didn't get very far last year. Paul looks to correct that this year with the same stellar cast he had last year. This team will be a force for years to come, and with Paul running the floor and winning, we'll forget all about that guy in Miami.

3. Kobe Bryant

If anyone can make you forget about LeBron James, its gotta be old faithful Kobe Bryant. Kobe has been rehabbing his repaired knee and though everything looks fine, its going to take a while before Bryant is back at 100 percent again. Though the Los Angeles Lakers have a tough task winning in the West this year, Kobe could possibly join the MVP talk in June if he goes off and has a productive year.

2. Derrick Rose

His return has been more anticipated than the finale of Breaking Bad. Okay, maybe not bigger than Breaking Bad, but it's up there. Though we didn't get to see Derrick Rose suit up for any games last year, we were treated to plenty of video showing Rose dunking and jumping off one leg in warmups. A return could easily result in the Chicago Bulls giving the Miami Heat a run for their money this year in the East.

1. Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook

I put these two together because frankly, they won't achieve the ultimate success of a championship without each other. Russell Westbrook's return cannot be of more importance this year. The two are easily the game's most dynamic players. With the West in retrograde, its easy to pick the Oklahoma City Thunder as front-runners to win it all.
