Charlie Villanueva Needs To Earn His Huge Paycheck From Detroit Pistons
It’s never fun to be swindled out of one’s money by anyone, let alone by someone that you trusted. That’s why anyone can sympathize with Detroit Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva.
According to USA Today, Villanueva testified in court that another former Connecticut basketball star, Tate George, swindled him out of $250,000. George is being prosecuted in federal court for allegedly running a Ponzi scheme related to a real estate development in Connecticut. Villanueva is fuming, and he should be.
Hopefully, Villanueva will finally give the Pistons their money’s worth this season. Hopefully, when training camp comes and Villanueva reports to the Pistons, he’ll make every effort to earn in a major way the $8 million the team will be paying him this season and not swindle them out of their money with a sub-par performance. V
illanueva signed his contract with every intent of being a standout player with Detroit, but it hasn’t worked out so far. The Pistons hope that Villanueva will be tremendously motivated to deliver the goods this season and having an outstanding 2013-14 to make good on his contract. If he does and complements the efforts of the other players the Pistons have picked up, they’re going to be a playoff team for sure.
