NBA Championship The Next Step For Indiana Pacers’ Paul George After Extension
We knew it was coming, and it is finally done. The Indiana Pacers have upcoming superstar Paul George for at least five more years. However, the price to keep George a Pacer is pretty expensive, maxing out at $90-plus million, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports. The deal is expected to be signed sometime this week.
This contract may cause the Pacers a little bit of financial trouble, but it is definitely worth it. After last season, George has become the Pacers leader without a doubt, and will definitely be needed in order for Indiana to continue its quest towards an NBA championship. The way things have been going, those aspirations may not be too far away.
George averaged 17.4 points, 4.1 assists and 7.6 rebounds per game last season, and after this huge max-deal he just received, those numbers are expected to go up.
George has certainly emerged as one of the league’s best G/F over his first three seasons, and is more than worthy of this very large contract extension with the Pacers. Last season’s Most Improved Player has said recently he likes living in Indiana because there are no distractions that would interrupt his growth and development as an NBA player. Well, he’s got at least five more years in Indiana to keep growing and developing.
George has earned a big contract, and you’ve got to think his next step is winning a championship not only for the Pacers, but for the state of Indiana.
