Nicolas Batum will be able to hold his head quite high in France now. His play in the EuroBasket final was crucial, and though Batum did disappear at points of the tournament, he came through when it mattered most. France leaned heavily on Tony Parker throughout the tournament, and they never would have gotten to the final with the point guard’s leadership and scoring.
France beat Lithuania 80-66 to capture the EuroBasket title. Nicolas Batum led France with 17 pts, Boris Diaw-15 pts and Tony Parker-12 pts

Batum’s production will be greatly needed for the Portland Trail Blazers next season, and it should be a fun season for the team. Point guard Damian Lillard recently predicted they would make the playoffs, and if they stay healthy the Blazers definitely have the roster to do it. Lillard will now hope the rest of the Blazers roster can step up to the bar that he has set for them.
Batum’s defense and three point shooting will be crucial to spread the floor for that success to occur, but it will be a team effort if it does get done. Rookie shooting guard C.J. McCollum could be a dark horse favorite for rookie of the year, and though do not expect that here, do expect McCollum’s production to be key for the Blazers next season.
Also, expect Batum to carry over his international success into his most productive season yet.
