Rajon Rondo Deservedly Has Highest Ranking on Boston Celtics in NBA 2K14 By Far

The Boston Celtics will most likely be starting the 2013-2014 NBA season without a healthy Rajon Rondo in their lineup. Rondo is still recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered last season and, according to a recent report on ESPN Boston, him being ready by the season opener is highly unlikely as he still needs time to recover and the higher-ups in Beantown aren’t looking to push their star point guard too hard.

However, as soon as Rondo graces the floor, he will unquestionably be their best player. After Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were traded the night of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Celtics became Rondo’s team (barring any potential trade, which can’t be ruled out at this point). Though he’s not without his flaws, there is no one that comes close to him in terms of talent on Boston’s roster.

The creators of NBA 2K14 agree when it comes to Rondo in the rest of the Celtics. With the game set to be released on Oct. 1, coincidentally the same day that NBA training camps open, video game website Operation Sports posted a video of the ratings screen from the game, giving the public the rating for every player in the game.

Rondo is ranked as a 90 overall and his other grades are fitting. He’s given an A+ IQ, an A for perimeter defense, an A+ for ball-handling, a C+ for inside shooting and a C for outside shooting. The only point of contention I would have with his grades is that he was given only a D+ in rebounding, which is a little bit low for probably the best rebounding point guard in the NBA.

However, one thing that the guys at 2K Sports definitely got right is the discrepancy between Rondo and the second-highest ranked player on the Celtics, Jeff Green. While Rondo is at a 90, Green is at just a 79 overall rating. Though that might be a bit of a slight to Green, the gap between him and Rondo is fitting. Rondo is the clear and only star on this Boston team and it’s not really that close. It’s good to see that the game recognizes that as they try to make things realistic.
