Top-3 Reasons Why Indiana Pacers Signing of Paul George Will Pay Off

Paul George

The Indiana Pacers decided to skip all the “in-season drama” and sign the NBA‘s most improved player from last year in Paul George. He had an All-Star year filling in for injured star Danny Granger, averaging 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game last season. So the big decision to sign him was no hesitation for the Pacers, but as usual, people are saying George is overpaid. Here are three reasons why it will pay off for the Pacers.

George has many attributes that can make him nearly impossible to stop. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound small forward is a contradiction in itself by using the word “small.” George has a tall, lanky frame which means he can pull up from anywhere on the court for a jump shot. His athletic ability makes him dangerous for driving to the basket, even on a center. And his long wingspan can disturb any player that is in front of him by stealing the ball and leading the fast break.

Secondly, the Pacers have a piece that could help them get their first title in history. George proved himself during the finals against the Miami Heat by taking the game into his hands in crucial moments. He went head-to-head with NBA’s most valuable player in LeBron James and showed that he could easily compete with the best. Just imagine what he can do when the 23-year-old gets more experience.

Lastly, the Pacers can finally relax during the season knowing that they have nothing stopping them from competing. The news focuses so much on what the player’s contract situation is that it could cause some distractions from the game of basketball. Mostly when that happens, teams will usually fall apart and lose their focus. Luckily, the Pacers have nothing to worry about this season.

The Pacers look to be one of the most exciting teams to watch this year by getting more nationally-televised games against many predicted playoff contenders. Hopefully, the signing of George will pay off for the Pacers as they continue their search for their first NBA title.
