The time has come for one of the most talked-about comebacks in a long time. The hype has been in overdrive and has been building all summer long. Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose will finally step on the court in real action and compete against the Indiana Pacers.
So the question is, what can we expect from the former MVP?
The anticipation for this preseason game is being treated like a regular-season contest. All eyes will be on Rose, and he is excited. He just wants to get back on the court and feel like a teammate again. All the practice and preparation is needed, but fans want to see Rose against real competition, even if it’s just preseason.
Coach Tom Thibodeau will be playing his starters in 6-8 minutes intervals. Rose will have plenty of time to get back in the swing of things with his starters. Some of the things to look out for will be the chemistry of the starters. Rose said he worked on his jumper and added a new floater to his game. How long will it take him to get that explosiveness and quickness back?
But, the biggest hurdle will be how he responds on that surgically-repaired knee against defensive assignments and double-teams.
Coach Thibs said he will not be holding Rose back at any time this preseason. Teams like the Pacers are going to be coming at him hard to see if he can handle the pressure. Rose has been waiting for this moment since last season. He’s in great shape and is 100 percent healthy mentally and physically. Expectations are very high, but D. Rose is ready to show the basketball world why he is still one of the elite.
