Los Angeles Lakers fans everywhere breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Last night, the Lakers secured their first NBA preseason win since 2010 with a 104-95 victory over the Golden State Warriors, and Nick Young (aka Swaggy P) showed Lakers fans everywhere what he’s capable of by putting up 17 points in 19 minutes.

Young is going to need to be an offensive spark for this team while teammate Kobe Bryant works his way back from his Achilles injury, and then continue to bring that energy as the starting small forward to relieve pressure off Bryant on offense. Young showed he’s more than capable of it in limited playing time, but did get himself quickly into foul trouble and took a seat on the bench once he picked up his fifth foul in the third quarter.

While in the game, he put on a dazzling display of showmanship filled with cross-overs, step backs, spins and fades with that telltale smile on his face. No one is happier to be a Laker than Young.

Young has been a Lakers fan and a huge Bryant fan his whole life while growing up in Los Angeles, and has been mimicking Bryant’s moves for years. He has seen his dream come true this offseason, signing with the Lakers and then stepping on the court with the purple and gold draped from his shoulders.

In a year of rebuilding, the Lakers need all the help they can get, making the energetic Young a fantastic addition to this squad. He’s a dynamic scorer with big-time athletic ability that will clearly bring excitement night in and night out, giving Lakers fans everywhere something to watch in what looks to be a messy season. The Lakers are lucky to have him.
