Well, small forward Paul Pierce and power forward Kevin Garnett have been killing it in Green for some time, and now we will all just have to get used to them playing in Black. Unfortunately for this beleaguered Washington Wizards fan, the two Hall of Famers came back in different colors for the first time in DC. We could all predict the result after that right? It was a Brooklyn win.
It was also a thrilling game that went to overtime thanks to a stunning put back dunk at the buzzer by Glen Rice Jr. This could end up being an underrated pickup for the Wizards, and it will definitely be something that I keep an eye on. Like the picture of Pierce below by Howard Beck, though it is still a bit odd to see him in something other than green.

The Nets will have to do a good job managing minutes, but with a head coach like Jason Kidd who is quite familiar with the daily grind it should not be a huge issue. Garnett and Pierce will both be great vocal leaders for the Nets, and should give Deron Williams and Brook Lopez quite a bit of veteran experience to draw from. The Nets will not be too concerned with the regular season, and will do everything in their power to make sure they are ready to go when the playoffs roll around.
