Chicago Bulls: Why They Will Take Down the Miami Heat

By Candice Connell

It’s only the preseason and you can already tell that the Chicago Bulls are up to championship business. With Derrick Rose leading the way, all of their player pieces make a whole picture. The Bulls are ready to take down every team that comes their way, including the defending champions Miami Heat.

If you flash back to March 27, 2013 when the Heat came into the United Center with a 27-game win streak, the Bulls quickly showed the Heat that they were not just like every other team out there. Also notable, the Bulls played without their then injured superstar Derrick Rose, who carries most of the Bulls’ offense. That night the Bulls’ made a bold statement in ending the Heat’s win streak without their team leader and MVP. That day, they let Miami know just how serious they were in their quest to dethrone them as the champions, with or without their team leader.

Throughout the Bulls’ 2012-13 season, playing without their superstar wasn’t easy, but they never made any excuses. Players like Joakim Noah, Jimmy Butler, Loul Deng, and former Bulls’ player Nate Robinson, who is now with the Denver Nuggets, stepped up in a big way, playing games when they weren’t always healthy.

Fast forward to right now — just a few weeks away from the start of the regular season, the Bulls have their leader Derrick Rose back, healthy and explosive returning better than he was before. This time around, Miami will find it harder to get past the raging bulls and their hungry appetites for an NBA championship.
