Atlanta Hawks’ Al Horford Tweets Shaquille O’Neal Was Favorite Player Growing Up
Al Horford is going to be super lonely next year, because he is going to start to look around for some help around mid-season and he will find that it is not there for him. The Hawks appear to be “Riggin’ for Wiggins” as coined by Grantland’s Bill Simmons, and although Horford cannot see it now, it will hopefully help the young center later on. Danny Ferry the new GM realizes that he cannot compete with the elite teams in the East as the roster stands currently, and grabbing a young blue chipper in next summer’s draft would be quite a nice remedy for that.
Horford has an elite game, but it is a team sport, unfortunately for him, and there is just not enough help. You know who would help though? Shaquille O’Neal in his prime, who just happened to be Horford’s favorite player growing up.

It is funny when you realized pro players had all the same favorite pros as you, especially when you are of similar age as I am with Horford.
Will pour one out for Horford later today, and here is hoping that Ferry fixes this team before Horford leaves his prime. It has been a study in mediocrity for this team for quite a while; it would be fun to see what Atlanta would look like with a truly elite basketball team, because you know Shaq is not walking through that door right? Hopefully Andrew Wiggins is though.
